THE CLASS: Come learn the art of beautifying letters and penning handwritten thoughtful mementos! In this beginners class in calligraphy you’ll learn the basics of several different fonts, Roman, Italic, and a personal favorite of mine based off of an Arabic font – plus any that you’d like to learn! Included in learning the basics is how to practice. You’ll learn the technique of drawing your letters while you create thoughtful handwritten notes and projects that will dazzle your friends and family. Sign up for one class to learn the basics and walk away with a few hand calligraphed cards or sign up for a set of classes and also create a wall art worthy project to proudly display in your home or gift! Supplies will be provided for your time in class, as well as a list of recommended supplies for the truly dedicated, will be given as well. I have been playing with handwriting since I could dot my “i’s” with circles. I learned calligraphy in 7th grade and fell in love with it, relishing the left-handed challenge that calligraphy brings! I won the accolade of the best left-handed calligrapher in my Montessori middle school in Hyde Park from my art teacher who taught me. From this more-than-a-decade-long hobby I have created birthday cards, anniversary cards, mother’s day cards, any occasion cards (the most fun!) to send to friends, family, loved ones, and randos! Most recently I consulted a local electronics business to create custom made holiday cards, complete with personalized corporate gift for their vendors and partners.
