Flameworking 101: Boro ( 2 session workshops)
Learn the Basics of Flameworking in this 2 Day Workshop This hands-on flameworking course covers the basics of creating glass objects in the flame of a stationary propane/oxygen torch and progresses into methods of decoration. After a discussion of studio set-up and safety, demonstrations will introduce students to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass. The class will alternate between demonstrations and plenty of work time. Students will practice Techniques for applying color and manipulating the form. No experience necessary. Return students are welcome and all materials are included. Diablo Glass School opened in 2001, creating a public access glass arts studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Diablo is a place where beginning and experienced glass artists are welcome to share a nurturing environment, to grow and develop their creative skills in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Diablo offers different level classes and facilities in various disciplines, exposing a broad spectrum of people to exciting glass techniques in glassblowing, flameworking, fused glass and stained glass. By connecting students to professional national and international glass artists, we provide a learning experience that constantly offers new information and challenges. Diablo currently has partnerships with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Massachusetts College of Arts and Design, Decordova Museum and Sculptural Park, and Verlocal.
