Fused Glass for Painters (6 session workshops)
Students will bring a painting of their own to the first class which will be used as the inspiration for an exploratory adventure in fused glass using traditional and non-traditional techniques. The first four weeks of this six-week course students will explore various effects that can be used to mimic or reproduce aspects of the painting they bring to the first class. The last two weeks students will use their experiments to put together a final piece that reflects the painting they brought to the first class. Ample materials are included in the price of the course to complete the projects, however, students may find it appropriate to purchase alternate materials to play with in order to achieve colors or effects that exceed the available materials. There will be an opportunity to put together a group order for the class if multiple students are interested in additional materials. Thursday 6:30pm - 9:30pm June 9/2016 August 11/2016 October 13/2016 No prior glass experience required, open to all levels.
Diablo Glass School opened in 2001, creating a public access glass arts studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Diablo is a place where beginning and experienced glass artists are welcome to share a nurturing environment, to grow and develop their creative skills in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Diablo offers different level classes and facilities in various disciplines, exposing a broad spectrum of people to exciting glass techniques in glassblowing, flameworking, fused glass and stained glass. By connecting students to professional national and international glass artists, we provide a learning experience that constantly offers new information and challenges. Diablo currently has partnerships with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Massachusetts College of Arts and Design, Decordova Museum and Sculptural Park, and Verlocal.
