Glassblowing 1: Basics and Fundamentals (4 session workshops)
Learn all the Basics of Glassblowing in this 4 Session Workshop Series This four-week introductory course will guide students through a series of fundamental skills, which are crucial to working in the hot shop. First, you will learn Diablo's core exercise: the paperweight. After the paperweight exercises teaches you how to gather, form and control glass, you will be introduced to the blown bubble. With these fundamentals skills you will learn how to make beautiful glasses and small vessels. There is no experience necessary to become a glassblower in this workshop that has four separate class meetings.
Diablo Glass School opened in 2001, creating a public access glass arts studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Diablo is a place where beginning and experienced glass artists are welcome to share a nurturing environment, to grow and develop their creative skills in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Diablo offers different level classes and facilities in various disciplines, exposing a broad spectrum of people to exciting glass techniques in glassblowing, flameworking, fused glass and stained glass. By connecting students to professional national and international glass artists, we provide a learning experience that constantly offers new information and challenges. Diablo currently has partnerships with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Massachusetts College of Arts and Design, Decordova Museum and Sculptural Park, and Verlocal.
