Kiln Casting (4 session workshops)
During this four-week class, students will cast found or created objects in glass. We will make rubber molds around objects and then pour wax into the rubber molds creating your object in wax. This wax will be encased in plaster-silica, before being melted out creating a negative space of your object in the plaster mold. The molten colored glass will drip into your mold, casting your object in glass! When: Monday 1:00pm - 4:00pm May 16/2016 June 20/2016 July 18/2016 August 15/201 Thursday 6:30pm - 9:30pm May 12/2016 June 9/2016 July 14/2016 August 11/2016
Diablo Glass School opened in 2001, creating a public access glass arts studio in Boston, Massachusetts. Diablo is a place where beginning and experienced glass artists are welcome to share a nurturing environment, to grow and develop their creative skills in a warm, inviting atmosphere. Diablo offers different level classes and facilities in various disciplines, exposing a broad spectrum of people to exciting glass techniques in glassblowing, flameworking, fused glass and stained glass. By connecting students to professional national and international glass artists, we provide a learning experience that constantly offers new information and challenges. Diablo currently has partnerships with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Massachusetts College of Arts and Design, Decordova Museum and Sculptural Park, and Verlocal.
