Come Drink & Paint Your Masterpiece on Glass
Are you tired of the standard sip and paint? Tired of painting the same eiffel tower as the person sitting next to you? Than you've come to the right place! This is not your standard sip and paint experience, and Black Couch is not your standard studio. The studio was founded to help cultivate the local art and music scene—a mission that's clear with just one step inside its doors. Black Couch Studio is an actual working art studio. While surrounded by paintings, drawings, artist at work, and at times, live music, you will find yourself submerged in an environment that will help to reveal your most creative side. Under the guidance of the tremendously talented resident artist Mark Narens and Suzann Norris, you will be provided all the tips and tools to paint your own masterpiece on glass to take home. Please note: times are very flexible PAINTING ON GLASS Painting on glass requires an entirely unique approach to painting versus canvas. Your artwork will be painted on the backside of the glass, starting with the subject/foreground first and painting the background last. Mark and Suzann will teach you a variety of tricks to help bring your artwork to life, including how to use oil paint pens to add dimension to your work. After your glass painting is complete, they will guide you on how to frame, hang or even turn your new masterpiece into a table. After all, what good is painting your own masterpiece if you can't show it off after? STUDENTS ARE PROVIDED: - Glass to Paint on (Sizes will Vary) - Acrylic, Easy to Use Paint - Oil Paint Pens to Add Dimension - All Necessary Brushes and Tools - 2.5 hours of creativity! YOU WILL LEARN HOW TO: - First Draw Your Painting - Mix Colors - Composition - Add Dimension Using Oil Pens - Perspectives Every student is different, and each brings a different amount of experience. Mark and Suzann will be sure to give you as much, or as little guidance as you would like in bringing your idea to life. THINGS TO BRING WITH YOU: - If you have one, an idea for what you would like to paint. Students have brought anything from photos they have taken to google images they like. If you're not sure what you would like to paint, no problem. Mark and Suzann are experts at breaking through artists block. - Beer, wine, saki, or really whatever your artistic lubricant is. Remember we want to bring out your most creative side here. - Feel free to bring food. Snacks, appetizers, deserts, etc. A GOOD CAUSE The crew also uses their art to benefit worthy causes, and raises $10,000 annually to support charities that range from Ronald McDonald Foundation to Rebecca's Dream. LARGE/PRIVATE GROUP If you're looking to bring in a large group (15+) or would like to be sure that your group has the studio all to themselves, reach out to the hosts through the 'Contact' button at the bottom of this page to arrange a special time. Great for birthdays, bachelorette parties, company events, and all special occasions! DON'T SEE A TIME THAT WORKS FOR YOU? No problem! Mark and Suzann are almost always in the studio. We are a collective of artists and musicians whose mission is to encourage positive community involvement through art and music.
