About Your Host

We are dedicated to teaching the art of hand-making shoes and leather goods to promote self-sufficiency and sustainability. Our goal is to empower all people to enjoy a satisfying and liberating experience around creating footwear and leather work. "Buy a pair of shoes and you cover your feet for a year or two. Learn how to make shoes and you can shoe yourself, family and friends for a lifetime." :)) We use non-toxic glue while assembling the shoe uppers and shoemaking cement to attach the outer sole. We have an exhaust hood to limit exposure to any chemicals.

What we'll do

Confident about Leatherworking? This class is NOT for beginners. Leather Work 301 is focused on teaching industrial sewing machine skills. Come to this class and have a chance to work on each and every machine we have. Singer 153, Juki 1541S, Adler 105-64, Brother TZ1-B652, Chandler 406-RB1. You’ll have a project to practice your sewing skills. Usually we choose a small leather pouch with a zipper so you know how to install one. At the end of this class, you’ll qualify for Open Studio, our independent lab time at the school. You may come with your own projects and work at your own speed. We are looking forward to expanding our leather working community with this class! All materials, hardware and use of tools are included in the tuition.
