About Your Host

We are dedicated to teaching the art of hand-making shoes and leather goods to promote self-sufficiency and sustainability. Our goal is to empower all people to enjoy a satisfying and liberating experience around creating footwear and leather work. "Buy a pair of shoes and you cover your feet for a year or two. Learn how to make shoes and you can shoe yourself, family and friends for a lifetime." :)) We use non-toxic glue while assembling the shoe uppers and shoemaking cement to attach the outer sole. We have an exhaust hood to limit exposure to any chemicals.

What we'll do

4 Day Workshop in Bootmaking: Not everyone can find tall boots to fit their feet or calves–this is a 4 day workshop where we show you how to build a pair of tall boots for yourself (and ultimately for others) from start to finish. THIS CLASS HAS A PREREQUISITE OF "BEGINNING SHOEMAKING". It is helpful but not required to take Patternmaking before attending this clinic There are a number of styles to choose from. As you know, we teach an outstitch technique which allows for a maximum of 1/2 inch heel. Comfort and fit are our specialties and we’re happy to hold this workshop twice a year for our students. For those of you who’ve made more than one pair of shoes, it’s a chance to expand your range of shoemaking with a particular focus on how to pattern for the ankle and leg. Tuition includes all materials. Special choices of sole material and hardware may be purchased on site as extras. This class takes place over the weekend: Class Time: 4 days. Runs Friday night 7-9, Saturday 9-5pm, Sunday 9-5pm, and Monday 9-5pm
