Learn Shoemaking in Chicago.
You will learn how to make a pair of desert boots by hand. The school provides patterns for you based on your feet measurements for a custom fit. These patterns are used to create leather uppers, midsoles and soles for the shoes.
You’ll cut out the leather, prepare the materials and stitch the leather uppers to the midsoles, glue those to the soles and then form the upper. After a few finishing details, you’ll be taking home a pair of shoes you made yourself.
Includes upper leather (8 color choices), midsole leather, insole pad, thread, glue, eyelets, rivets, shoelaces, sole material, patterns, 2 full days of instruction and use of tools on site.

The Chicago School of Shoemaking
The Premier ShoeMaking Institute in Chicago
We are dedicated to teaching the art of hand-making shoes and leather goods to promote self-sufficiency and sustainability. Our goal is to empower all people to enjoy a satisfying and liberating experience around creating footwear and leather work.
"Buy a pair of shoes and you cover your feet for a year or two. Learn how to make shoes and you can shoe yourself, family and friends for a lifetime." :))
We use non-toxic glue while assembling the shoe uppers and shoemaking cement to attach the outer sole. We have an exhaust hood to limit exposure to any chemicals.
