Holiday Gifting Class: Homemade Gifts from the Garden
Make some sweet and simple homemade gifts this holiday season. You will go home with 4 bars of melt and pour goat's milk soap with your choice of herbs and scents, 6 dream pillows filled with relaxing lavender and chamomile, and 1-3 pomander balls. A pomander ball is an old-fashioned craft, where you cover a citrus fruit with dried cloves and let it dry. Depending on how long it takes you and how much coverage you want, you will wind up making one, or several. I will also have card and label making materials so that you can make attractive tags for your gifts. The projects will be set up as stations so you can move from one to another at your own pace and in your own order. You are welcome to BYOB if you'd like to drink some wine or beer while you craft. I also will have apple cider and lots of vintage Christmas records to play so we can get in a holiday mood.
I have spent a lot of my life enjoying crafts of all sorts, including soap making, sewing, dollhouse miniatures and herbal arts. I wrote a blog about soap making and natural crafting for Mother Earth News for several years. I currently live in Chicago and have a rental home in Miller Beach, Indiana. So I will be offering classes at both locations this winter. I look forward to sharing some traditional crafts techniques in a friendly, inspiring environment.
