About Your Host

Who We Are: Our mission is to improve the world by providing to our communities an authentic experience of the disciplines of Parkour, Freerunning, and Art du Déplacement. We are the one and only organization in the Chicagoland area with connections to the Yamakasi (the founders of the disciplines) and the only organization in this area striving to keep the original values in the practice. "Être Fort Pour Être Utile" In English, "being strong to be useful". From our instructors to our students, the strong help the weak... and we all have strengths and weaknesses!

What we'll do

Come try parkour in a 60-minute class taught by experts in the art! Brief Description Parkour is a fast-growing discipline around the globe. At it's very basic level, Parkour is is a holistic training discipline using movement. Dabblers will learn to move quickly and efficiently through their environment using only their bodies and their surroundings to propel themselves, negotiating obstacles in between. This class will introduce you to Parkour and help you to better understand what it is. You can expect to leave this class having had a great workout and a strong concept of the discipline that is Parkour. What will I learn? "Discovery" is our beginner level class. In this class level, students will learn the basics of our discipline including but not limited to: vaults, jumping and landing, basic movement positions, rolls and safety, climbing, balance, underbars, swinging, and a whole variety of creative movements that don't quite have common names. What do I need to be ready? There are no prerequisites for this class and we are willing to work with all levels in this level. It's perfectly okay if you've never done any Parkour/Freerunning/Art du Déplacement - and it's okay if you're new to fitness as well. What should I wear and bring? For outdoor classes, you'll probably want to bring your own water bottle. For all classes, you should wear clothing that is comfortable for you to move around in. Long pants are recommended to protect the legs a bit more from scrapes and bruises. Most athletic shoes will work fine, you should wear what you'd go out for a run in until you develop your own preference for training shoes. How will I progress? If you decide to stick to the training, you can expect to attend this level for about 6 to 12 months before advancing to the Standard class level, but individual progression can vary greatly - some students might move on sooner than this, and some may even stay in the Discovery level for well more than 12 months. Our instructors can help you decide whether it is the right time to move to the next level class. ___________________________________________________________ BENEFITS: 1.
