Edible wild plants are growing right at your feet, in our city parks, as “weeds” in gardens and yards, even in abandoned parking lots. You just need to know where to look and how to safely identify and sustainably harvest them. Leda will show you how to spot wild edibles such as blackberries, pineapple weed, wild “cardoons”, daylily blossoms and many more untamed culinary delights. You’ll learn how to sustainably harvest and then deliciously prepare these wild, seasonal ingredients. Leda will show you how to find free food that’s safe to eat and growing all around you. She’ll explain techniques for collecting wild plants ways that are beneficial to the ecosystems you are harvesting from. She’ll also introduce you to the medicinal uses of many wild plants. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring drinking water and a way to take notes and photos. Leda will then explain the flavors of wild ingredients and how to prepare them, as well as tips on how to preserve them for year-round use. Interested in purchasing my book?
