About Your Host

The August Axel Jewelry Studio is a creative workshop originating in Venice Beach, CA and NOW inside Blue Cicada Studios - Peachtree City’s Art Studio. Online and in-Studio classes are available. The Studio and course offerings were designed to serve a range of skills and interests from talented tinkerers to advanced artists. Our goal is to provide solid and safe bench-instruction, combined with hands-on practice, so artists may operate safely, independently and successfully. COURSES: We serve ages 8+ Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Soldering. Bezel Setting. Tube Setting. Flush Setting. Prong Setting. Metalsmithing. Cold-Connections. Wire Wrapping. Knotting, Girl Scouts, Moms Nights, Corporate Enrichment Programs, Bridal Showers, DIY Engagement Rings and Wedding Bands and more.. Private or Group Lessons. INSTRUCTORS: As Owner and Senior Instructor, Christy Sears brings a wealth of knowledge to the bench. With 15+ years of jewelry soldering and metal fabrication, endless patience and a healthy sense of humor, she creates a warm and welcoming learning environment. Not only does she believe in teaching "how", but "why" and this has made all of the difference to her students. We’re looking forward to hosting you in our new Peachtree City home base.

What we'll do

PRE-REQUISITE: Beginning Wax Carving for Casting or previous wax carving experience. NO EXCEPTIONS. You must know how to use wax carving tools and be comfortable using a jeweler’s saw and flex shaft. ........................................................................................................................................ Elevate your Beginning Wax Carving Skills through safe and solid wax carving techniques. Learn to sculpt three-dimensional forms into wax to create magnificent rings or pendants. We will use wax burs to add depth to your designs and remove weight from the wax (Which saves design headaches and money!) Your Instructor, Diana, works with each student closely, to ensure the success of every design. We were students once, too, which is why it’s important that we teach the “How”, “When” and “Why” of each jewelry technique. Our goal is to provide a depth of knowledge, so the skills are replicable in your own Studio. There is a Casting Fee, which is determined by the weight of your piece. Don't worry, we won't let you spend too much by creating a ring that weighs a ton! This is a two-session Class. The second session is usually two-weeks after the first and will be discussed in the first meeting. Plan accordingly, in advance. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS :: NO EXCEPTIONS - Closed-toed, low-heeled or no-heeled shoes - Comfortable “play-clothes”. No flowing sleeves or too much bulk - Long hair must be worn in a bun or ponytail - Protective eyewear will be provided and must be worn
