Beeswax Candle Making Class
This class will start up again in late March/early April. This is the safest method of candle making for you and the environment! Beeswax is highly prized as a long-lasting, clean-burning wax. It is 100% natural, produced by bees and requires next-to-no processing, making it much safer than chemical-ridden paraffin and genetically-modified soy. In this class, you will use natural, yellow beeswax to make 3 candles (about 8 oz. of beeswax), using the silicone molds (e.g. flower, heart) &/or decorative containers of your choice (e.g. glass, ceramic). You'll learn how to choose the correct wick size & prime the wicks, and how to reuse the molds/containers as well, after burning your candles at home. During the class, we'll discuss how beeswax is made, interesting beeswax history & information, and the benefits of using beeswax over other waxes. Find out how amazing bees & their beeswax are! Along with your candles, take home a thorough, detailed instructional handout, including beeswax information, a wick-sizing chart, ingredients, materials/equipment, suppliers & decorating ideas. Everything is provided in the class, as well as some snacks & tea. This class lasts 1.5 hours & is available for up to 3 people. Beeswax lip balm making can be added for $15/person & bath bomb making can be added for $20/person. Contact Lindsay if interested and if you have any questions. I hope to meet you soon! General Class Information: - Very small class sizes! Choose to take a private class just for you or choose a semi-private class on the online calendar for only 2-3 people per class. Make the products yourself; you won't watch, you'll do. - Customize your products! I supply the recipe & ingredients & you choose which work best for you. - Bring nothing! Everything is provided in the class with NO extra materials fee. - It's all in the details! Take home a thorough, detailed instructional handout with recipes, ingredients, materials list & suppliers.
Hi, my name is Lindsay. I am the former owner of Blue Dot Organics based out of San Francisco. I taught a variety of large-group classes in the making of soap, candles, lotion, lip balm and various other body and household natural products. I closed this business in the fall of 2014 and traveled abroad with my husband. We returned to Pacifica, California in the fall of 2015 and I began teaching again, but on a smaller scale until May of 2016. My husband was offered a job in Long Beach; so since July of 2016, I have been offering private classes, as well as semi-private classes on my online calendar, for up to 2 people per class on Ocean Blvd. You can enjoy an informative, fun class tailored to you in a relaxed atmosphere. My Soap Making & Teaching Background: I have been making & learning about natural, body-care products since 2012, when I took my first soap-making class with my sister-in-law in Quincy, Massachusetts. It was so fun that I immediately moved on to lotion, candles, bath bombs & more! I had been a teacher long before learning how to make natural products though, so when I moved to San Francisco in 2013, I decided to mesh my 2 specialty areas and open Blue Dot Organics. I have taught in various capacities ever since I graduated with a Bachelor's in Education in 2006, but I prefer the small-group setting for a more personal experience and so you can get the most out of the class! I hope to meet you soon!
