Our Learn to Curl clinics are perfect for absolute beginners excited to try the Olympic sport of curling. Our crack instructors are so amazing, you will know enough to sign up for a league after attending a single session. With the start of the next league always just around the corner, you can go from newbie to league contender lickity-split! What should I expect? Hollywood Curling schedules a Learn to Curl sessions through out the year. At a Learn to Curl, we devote the entire night to the introduction and instruction of curling. A Learn to Curl is ideal for those who have never tried the sport before, but are curious to learn the basics. This is the perfect opportunity to try it out in a pressure free environment. We start with an ice safety meeting prior to stepping on the ice. You’ll spend about an hour or so on the ice, learning about delivery, sweeping and the finer points of the game. What kind of equipment do I need? Hollywood Curling provides all the necessary equipment for this session. Simply wear loose fitting pants (jeans are not recommended), and a sweatshirt. You should dress in layers - it can be chilly on the ice, but you heat up quickly once you start playing and sweeping. Bring clean, flat-soled, close toed, comfortable shoes - Tennis shoes or sneakers work well - and warm socks. (Toms, Converse and Vans are not recommended, as your toes will be very cold). When will I be good enough to play in a league? After your very first lesson! Once you learn the basics, the best way to get better is to continue to play. Whether by clinics or joining our short leagues, just getting on the ice and throwing stones will make you better. Of course, if you take advantage of our Learn to Curl sessions, before, it can only help. Plus, the more you play, the more you’ll get to know other members; form a team you’ll enjoy playing with the entire league.
