After a combined 40 Spartan Races under our belt, Jorge and I know that the nitty gritty of Spartan Beasts consists of: RUNNING, HIKING STEEP HILLS, and BURPEES. I personally think too many people make the mistake of ONLY trying to master things like the rope climb or monkey bars, that make up about 10% of the entire 12-15 mile race, and hardly make the effort to focus on THE BIG THREE. Well Reconstruction heads to the hills of Agoura to focus on the important 90%. We will run/hike/bear crawl our way through 10+ miles of intense hills, and winding trails, while doing 30 burpees every 2 miles to mimic possible missed obstacles. We will carry Wreck Bags in teams of 4 or 5 throughout the training. Not for the faint at heart, but then again, neither are Spartan Races! This is NOT meant for beginners, so please sign up at your own risk. Believe me when I say Jorge and I will do our best to keep the group together, giving people the chance to catch up while everyone does burpees, and bear crawls, but if anyone stops to walk for too long a time, they will need to finish on their own as 10 miles is too long of a distance to stop and wait for everyone. We will mark the trail with blue arrows to make sure everyone knows where to go. EVEN if someone has to finish on their own, they need to have the mental fortitude to keep pushing HARD and know that they GOT OFF THE COUCH and made the effort to SHOW UP, unlike countless others who stayed home and doubted their ability. One big part of the Spartan Beast (and LIFE!), is the ability to take on whatever challenge comes your way. Run time: approximately 4 hours, depending on the group.
