Master your DSLR: Photography Fundamentals Taught by Photographer Ovi Hentea
We've all been there before - holding our DSLR, facing a photo-worthy scene, yet not quite sure what to do: "Do I want shutter speed? [snap] Nope, too dark. Maybe it's aperture I want... [snap] Ugh, now it's blurry... Auto mode it is!" How does this work? You and up to three of your friends find a time that works for everyone (Request Private Session on sidebar), we get together with our cameras, and start talking DSLRs! We cover the anatomy of the camera, photography basics, then move from theory to useful techniques, focusing specifically on how to apply it all to 'real-life' photography: how to freeze motion, add blur, and deal with low light. The curriculum is dynamic in that it adapts to your existing knowledge, meaning you don't have to waste time on techniques with which you're already comfortable. Message with any question tangentially related to photography, like asking for camera recommendations, online resources, portfolio critiques, post-processing advice, or anything - I'm here to nurture your love for photography!
Having started with a modest film SLR more than a decade ago, my passion for photography has lead me down many roads - including jobs as an event photographer for international organizations and model photographer for specialty fashion blogs. In addition, world travel has exposed me to all sorts of environments and unique opportunities, further improving my photographic technique and feeding my creativity. Having developed a strong handle on the technical side of photography, and after seeing many DSLR owners struggle to make the best of the photographic opportunities they come across, I decided to help others fully embrace the art of photography. "Exceptionally knowledgeable teacher taught the class at an easily understandable pace. The smaller size of the group also allowed for all involved to receive personalized instruction, even as we all arrived with different brands and models of camera." -Burton R. "I loved Ovi's class, he's a great teacher. He explains things very well and customizes his class to the people in it, so it doesn't matter how much/little you know when you show up, you'll leave feeling more confident and informed. He offers a great mix of lecture and hands-on work, and is a super smart and charming guy." - Morgan D. "This was the best 1-day class I've taken on digital photography and the most I've learned from a dabble class yet. The instructor was very patient and effective in helping us learn the fundamentals." - John S. "Even though I had used a DSLR in the past, there were so many things I learned about lighting and framing, ways to use the camera's settings to my advantage"
