Mosaic Serving Trays Workshop
Have you always wanted to make your own mosaic? Learn basic glass mosaic techniques and come away with a lovely and functional original piece of art! In this five-hour mosaic workshop you will experiment with patterns, placement and balance while assembling and grouting your own masterpiece. No previous experience is needed, all supplies are included, and all glass will be precut. The final product will be your 11"x15" serving tray ready to use in your home. All participants will be able to choose colors of glass, grout, stain, various paints, as well as finishes for their trays This workshop takes place at Rhythmix Cultural Works, a community art center in Alameda. There will be a break in class, so feel free to bring snacks or drinks to enjoy. Mosaic work is not very messy, and we will wear gloves when working with grout, but don't wear your favorite outfit. Interested in scheduling a private class with your friends? I'm happy to do a mosaic making party! Please contact me to setup a date and discuss details.
I love working with my hands, trying new crafts and being creative but I never considered myself much of a visual artist. After an awful painting class and some sad attempts at paper crafts I finally hit my stride in collage. I immediately appreciated the meditative process: choosing my pieces, working their placement to create balance or non-composure, and then watching the final result emerge. Soon after my start in collage I branched out into mosaics and fell in love with them, while gaining the confidence to try more new mediums. I’ve studied at Studio One Arts Center, The Crucible, Mendocino Arts Center, The Kala Institute, and The Bullseye Glass Resource Center expanding my work into mixed media encaustic painting, ceramics, glass fusing, and woodworking. In each of these mediums I find satisfaction in that meditative process and then slowly watching the finished piece emerge. Thanks for checking out my profile!
