Mini Loom Weaving Workshop @ NEIGHBORLY
Join us at Neighborly for a weaving workshop. I began weaving in graduate school and fell in love. I've been creating woven wall hangings on my custom designed frame looms for a few years and the possibilities to play with shape, color, and texture are endless! I will be showing you several techniques so you are able to build a weaving unique to you! This gathering is perfect for beginners and no weaving experience is necessary at all! We'll also provide some baked treats and refreshments. WHAT YOU GET A custom made mini loom & toolkit A printed guide An assortment of yarn to use during our time together A two hour lesson Treats and refreshments ABOUT THE VENUE Nestled between the arts & industry-rich neighborhoods of Lincoln Square and Ravenswood on the north side of Chicago, Neighborly offers Mid-Century style home accessories and artwork that reflect the urban, Midwest lifestyle. I am a Chicago artist and art educator. Inspired by the old sewing circles and expanding on the theme of intimate, creative social gatherings, I created J.Villa Workshop. I am hosting craft events at some of Chicago's most beloved bars, restaurants, coffee houses, boutiques, and cupcake shops. I love utilizing classic, traditional art/craft processes such as; weaving, embroidery, printmaking, and watercolor, and putting a contemporary spin on them to bring you a unique, accessible, and fun learning experience! There's nothing better than gathering with others to make something by hand, learning skills and processes that can be used again and again. At each J.Villa gathering, you will experience a thoughtfully curated event in an inspiring space, hand selected and/or handmade art materials, and enthusiastic guidance through the craft process.
