o you have a pile of clothes that you love but doesn't fit? Then this is the class for you. Do you have a pile of clothes that you love but just doesn't fit? Bring in some of your clothes you’ve been meaning to tailor/alter and we'll turn you into your own personal tailor.
Each class is different depending on what garments are brought in, but examples of past projects are hemming pants/skirts, replacing a zipper, and letting a garment out or in. Some previous sewing experience is helpful.
For this class you will need to supply:
3-5 garments that you’d like to alter
1 spool of thread to match each project

Owl & Thistle General Store is a modern take on an old-fashioned concept of a community Owl and Thistle Generaloriented store offering a wide variety of products and classes under a single roof.
Nestled in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, Owl & Thistle scours the globe as well as our own backyard to bring unique items to Brooklyn. From locally made dresses (some actually sewn in store) and Brooklyn made chocolates, to organic soaps and play dough, we strive to provide sustainable goods at fair prices. A variety of classes in sewing, soap making, leather working, knitting and more are taught on-site to further our commitment to hand-made goods.
Keri CavinaughThe proprietress, Keri Cavanaugh, is well acquainted with local products and fair trade. A long time independent clothing designer, seamstress and former Peace Corps Volunteer, she brings her love of practical yet beautiful things for yourself or gifts to Owl & Thistle General Store. The ever-changing and carefully selected items are also informed by her MA in Museum Studies at FIT and working as the Manager of Traveling Exhibitions at the American Museum of Natural History. You can be assured she will bring a collection of carefully chosen products that cater to all members of the community.
