ORGANIC FACE CREAMS & ANTIAGING PRODUCTS
With so many products on the market these days it’s challenging to know what ingredients work to reverse aging on our delicate facial skin. It also costs hundreds of dollars to purchase effective skin-lightening, toning and anti-wrinkle products. This class is structured and taught for new and experienced students in regards to formulating skincare. In this class students will learn which raw materials work best for various skin types, ways to re-balance the skin, and in-depth plant oil specifications which will help you formulate your own products. Students will also learn labeling requirements of cosmetics, and legalese of making claims on their product packaging. In this class students will learn to formulate and take home the following products: 1 Gentle Exfoliator 1 Eye Cream Treatment 1 Facial Cleanser 1 Facial Serum This is a hands-on class. If you have an existing bath and body business, you'll love how these products boast great markups. You can cross-sell these with the rest of your line to your customers. We will discuss how to make product for various skin types, such as oily, dry and/or combination. This class is open to beginner through advanced. Students will receive a class handout that includes instructions, recipes and a valuable list of my favorite places to buy supplies and equipment. Marla Bosworth is the CEO and President of Back Porch Soap Company. She is a soap and cosmetic formulator who teaches organic and natural skincare workshops throughout the U.S. Marla has been making soap, blending essential oils and natural perfumes as well as formulating cosmetics for 20 years. Marla has more than 30 years of expertise in Retail Sales, Business Development, Strategic Planning, Market Research, Product Development and Marketing She teaches business and cosmetic formulation classes near her home in Boulder, CO, New York City as well as through online seminars and webinars. She has been a guest lecturer at Wellesley College (Wellesley, MA) and the New York Botanical Garden. She also teaches entrepreneurial and beauty startup workshops as well as seminars on how to create natural skincare products at various venues and events. She is a published author, having written several self-published books as well as articles for The Saponifier Magazine. In addition, she has been a guest speaker at the Handcrafted Soapmakers Guild Conference in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
