Manhattan Photo Boot Camp
Join the New York City Photo Safari team for an intensive three-day photography workshop to photograph what makes New York City the Big Apple! This workshop is for photographers who are ready to get serious about understanding their camera settings and fine-tuning their composition skills. Under the direction of professional photographers you’ll photograph the most famous landmarks and icons of NYC. Here's what can you expect on this three day Photo Boot Camp: You'll start with a Nuts & Bolts session and move onto 5 daytime and 3 night time shooting sessions. You will photograph the Brooklyn Bridge during the day and at night, the Manhattan skyline at night from the Top of the Rock as well as from Brooklyn; you will also photograph the Flat Iron Building, the Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall, Wall Street, the Municipal Building, Chinatown, Lower East Side, Grand Central Terminal, Rockefeller Center, the Chrysler Building, the New York Public Library, Bryant Park, Times Square at night, and the most famous locations of Central Park. You will photograph new and old buildings, taxi cabs and subways, and the people and places that represent the immigrant history of Manhattan (Chinatown and the Lower East Side). You will learn which lenses to choose depending on subject matter, how to use your flash, long exposure and much more. You can expect to be away from your hotel 12-13 hours each day and shooting 6-9 hours. You will walk 3 to 4 miles a day and shoot more than 250 pictures a day. It is a rigorous schedule with minimal down time, meant to make sure you leave NYC with amazing and memorable photos of the most spectacular icons in the city while learning how to do it on your own. You will be tired to the core, that’s why we are calling it the Manhattan Photo Boot Camp; but like all boot camps you will have plenty to show for your hard work. This is not for the faint of heart. This is a unique opportunity to not only photograph but experience NYC.
New York City Photo Safaris are led by professional photographers with a wide array of industry experience. We are first and foremost photographers; we have spent our careers pursuing photography. It goes without saying that we are passionate about it. The question is why and what are we passionate about? Perhaps the photo equipment? Photo gadgets are cool, but there's more to it than that. We want to share our vision. The opportunity to teach photography via a photo tour is an opportunity to share our view of the world. Our motto is: Turning Picture Takers Into Image Makers. So join us for a photo tour and let us help you!
