The Art of the Dramatic Dialogue with Brenda-Usher Carpino - 6 WEEK WRITING WORKSHOPS
Learn the art of character development through dialogue. If you've been itching to write a dramatic piece, whether a full-blown play or a monologue, and have no or little experience, this is the workshop for you. Explore the fun of emotions erupting, confidences being broken, plots being woven, foreshadowing, and creating backstory all out of the mouths of your characters. This workshop will take place at LIMINAL: A Feminist & Womanist Writing Space in Oakland, CA. It is a 6 week workshop happening every Thursday starting from September 22nd, from 7PM -9 PM. We will have a final reading on October 28th for all Fall Workshop participants.
I see writing as a vehicle for voice. It is a tool for advocacy, political, personal, communal, creative, at times grave and at times playful. I am interested in community through the use of writing, though the expressions it allows for, the connections, the truth- seeking and finding and in being in roles of support and creation in these processes. It matters to me that women and marginalized groups in society have mediums that give them voice, and that I am an active participant in listening, attending, and being an ally as much as it is important to me to create in my own vision through the use of my voice, which I hope will resonate with the experience of truth for others.
