With only a few weeks left before college applications are due and finals right around the corner, high school seniors are more overwhelmed than ever. Not to mention that writing college essays is hard -- most students have little experience writing about themselves, and explaining what makes them special can feel awkward and self-promotional. I can help! I did my BA and MA in psychology at Stanford, where I spent time studying under a Stanford admissions officer. By working with him and his colleagues, I gained unique insight into what makes an applicant stand out among thousands of others. In this workshop, I will show students how to be interesting, authentic and original in their essays. We will discuss how to navigate the fine line between what experiences the students want to share and what "they" want to hear. Then, through group brainstorming and one-on-one attention, I will help your student walk away with their best possible essay.
