We offer a warm, intimate, and unique environment where professional, seasoned chef instructors share their knowledge and experience. We cover ingredient and tool instruction first, and offer valuable nutritional information in a lecture before students dive into the menu for the day. Get ready for hands-on cooking classes with our chefs and assistants while learning interesting techniques and delicious, easy-to-duplicate recipes! With two locations, in Berkeley and Oakland, California, Kitchen we have the most fun cooking classes in the East Bay and San Francisco Bay Area!

What we'll do

Get ready to learn why fermented foods are not just delicious, but are beneficial for your gut! In this hands-on workshop you'll learn the basics and benefits of fermenting foods, and make sauerkraut that you can take home and enjoy! In addition, we’ll sip on a digestive tea and discuss other nutrition and lifestyle factors that can often get in the way of having a healthy gut. In addition to making your own kraut and sampling pickles, participants will take home all of the recipes shared in the class. About the Instructor: Hello! I'm Lila. I work as a Holistic Nutritionist, health educator and food illustrator and writer. I believe food can be our best medicine. Food has played a major role in my own healing journey and allows me to connect with others and help them deepen their relationship with what they put in their body. I have been teaching kombucha workshops for the last 5 years and have shared my SCOBY with over 400 people. Kombucha is more than a delicious tasting drink, but also creates a beautiful interconnected web of people who continue the brewing tradition and all nourish a piece of the same original "culture." certified Nutrition Consultant . Lila received my education from Bauman College: Holistic Nutrition in Berkeley, CA. She was inspired to follow this path by my own four-year healing journey from chronic skin, digestive and fatigue issues. I have come to recognize the onset of these health challenges as a blessing in disguise. They strengthened my ability to listen and attune to my body's needs and led me to my dream job of helping others find healing through food. What to wear/bring to class: Please wear close-toed shoes to all classes. If you have shoulder-length hair or longer, please wear it back and away from your face; we have plenty of hair ties in the kitchen for you to use and keep.
