Handcrafted Felted Wool Slippers
Come discover Wet Felting This is an ancestral technique! Thousands and thousands of years ago, as wool from sheep was placed around the feet and under saddles for protection, comfort and warmth, the moisture from the sweat coupled with the friction and heat from movement resulted in the first felt! The creation of felt using traditional techniques simply requires roving wool, water and soap. In this workshop, you will create warm and comfy slippers that will fit you like a glove! For the simple reason that you will make them on your feet! Anyone can make felt – it’s easy. As the workshop lasts about 5 hours, light refreshments will be provided! Come travel back in time and enjoy a very laid-back environment in Sausalito.
As far as I remember I've always been passionated by DIY. I discovered wet felting techniques about 10 years ago and have instantly been fascinated by the magical transformation that operates from the fleece to the fabric. Since then, I handled all kinds of felting projects and started teaching this ancestral technique in 2012, in schools, libraries and senior houses. My background in environment and sustainable development pushes me to reducing waste and finding ways to live a natural lifestyle! Spending quality time with people, while making things instead of buying is a great one!
