Intro to Modern Calligraphy, Part 1: Brush Calligraphy
Introduction to Brush Calligraphy in Seattle. Learn the art of brush calligraphy in this comprehensive class! Your teacher Sarah Ward will instruct you to the basic techniques involved in creating the thick and thin lines typified in brush calligraphy, help you learn the lowercase letterforms so you can hone your alphabet and create beautiful pieces of lettering art! We have developed a calligraphy workbook that we'll work off of during the class and all your calligraphy supplies will be provided. Light refreshments will be served (please advise of any food allergies). You’ll take home: - Practice calligraphy alphabet - Tombow dual marker - Calligraphy workbook - Bonus calligraphy goodies *Please note: Due to the nature of our business, we do not accept refunds on classes. If you cannot attend a certain date, please contact us and we can make arrangements to transfer you to another class.
Hi, I'm Sarah! I am a calligrapher in Seattle who is passionate about cultivating community. I teach calligraphy and hand lettering and have had over 250 students come through my curriculum over the last few years. In my classes, you can expect to learn tried and tested techniques and practical application in a supportive, engaging and interactive environment. My teaching style is warm and demonstrative and I frequently receives rave reviews from my students. In addition to regular calligraphy and lettering classes, you can plug into our monthly Seattle Calligraphy Meetup. I took my first calligraphy class in the 6th grade and fell in love with the art form. In college I studied Visual Design with a Certified Image Master where I honed my design instincts and calligraphy gives me an opportunity to blend my design and education background. A few years ago I rediscovered modern calligraphy and have studied with renown calligrapher and letterer Molly Jacques.
