Encaustic Painting Resource
This mini-workshop is for those who have been experimenting with encaustic painting, and would like to expand their skills. Feel free to bring in things you have been working on, materials you would like to incorporate in your work, and a couple of panels which have a base coat of encaustic medium.
Patti Bowman is a Seattle-based artist, currently focused on encaustic painting. Patti grew up drawing, and discovered her love for painting and printmaking while studying Biology at the University of Calgary in Alberta. There, she received a B.Sc. with a minor in Fine Art. She continued to study printmaking and sculpture at Emily Carr College (now University) in Vancouver, BC. Patti moved to Bellevue, WA in 2000. She studied printmaking and painting at Pratt and Gage Academy in Seattle and has been painting in oil and encaustic and showing work in the Seattle area over the last fifteen years. She is represented by Linda Hodges Gallery. Patti’s paintings of urban landscapes and representations of bodies of water reflect an interest in the social tension and uncertainty that results from rapid change in the circumstances of contemporary life.
