Join me in the studio to sit down at the potter’s wheel and take a spin. Whether this is your first experience in clay or you’re looking to rekindle your skills from the past, settle in for an exciting class where you will learn something new and make a variety of pottery forms. Class projects will be driven by students’ goals and abilities, creating projects catered to each individual.
I will trim, glaze, and fire your pieces for you to come pick up at a later scheduled day and time.
Clay, glaze and tools provided*. Beginner and intermediate level course.
*First 25 lbs of clay included in materials cost. Each additional 25 lbs available at a cost of $18/ bag to cover additional glaze and firing costs.

I am the co-owner of Circle of Art Studios and my pottery business, Helenske Clayworks is housed within the studio and in my home studio. All clay classes are taught at Circle of Art Studios. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Minnesota State University Moorhead. I was also a resident artist at Pottery Northwest in Seattle where I worked as a studio artist and instructed clay classes for adults over the course of three years.
I make work that is intended for daily use concentrating on wares that can be used in the kitchen and at the dinner table. I feel that the ritual of sharing meals has brought people together for thousands of years and continues to serve an important function in the lives of 21st century culture. It is at this time of sharing food that people can open up and communicate, finding happiness and understanding through like experiences.
It is with this philosophy of understanding that I approach instructing clay courses. Realizing that each student has chosen to learn the same skill, but for different reasons has given me an open approach to teaching, allowing each student to learn new skills at their own pace and working to actively engage and relate these skills to a person's life.
