Shibori and Indigo Dyeing Basics
Learn to Dye Silk This class will cover: The history of indigo and shibori Preparing a pre-reduced indigo vat Binding and folding fabrics for shibori techniques such as arashi, itajime and other tiedye techniques Washing and caring for your indigo dyed pieces ***3 silk scarves will be provided for each guest! you are also encouraged to bring an item to dye that is of a light color and natural fibers (silk, linen, cotton, wool). provided are gloves and plastic aprons, but please be mindful to wear unimportant clothing.
Jenna Baucke is an artist and designer in the Bay Area. A California native with a life long love for arts and crafts who attended the Pratt Institute of Art and Design in Brooklyn NY and majored in sculpture. Her practice is multidisciplinary with an emphasis on textiles.
