Who doesn't love to snack? Looking for a healthy alternative to junk foods? In this class, Chef Teena will teach you how to make three very popular & healthy Indian dishes that are widely eaten as a snack. They are a wild and crazy hit at potlucks and can be made well in advance too! The menu includes: 1) Papri Chat - a traditional tangy, sweet, spicy and crunchy North Indian snack prepared using crisp fried dough wafers known as papri, along with boiled garbanzo beans/chick peas, boiled potatoes, yogurt, tamarind & mint/cilantro chutney and topped with chaat masala and sev (spiced/seasoned crunchy noodles made from chickpea flour). 2) Batata Poha - a staple recipe made with onions (kanda), potato (batata) and flattened rice (poha). A fluffy, flavorful, easy, quick and healthy option for a light snack, breakfast or brunch! Eaten with ketchup or raita (yogurt & veggie condiment) 3) Papads or Papadams - crisp cumin (jeera) flavored lentil wafers/chips. Students will also learn how to make a coriander/mint CHUTNEY that will compliment each of the three snack recipes above! We'll finish off with the infamous Masala Chai Tea:-) No snack is complete without this Indian tea favorite. Note: Family heirloom recipe is 100 years old!
