Amigurumi is a Japanese craft that uses Western crochet techniques to create three-dimensional shapes. It’s like sculpting with yarn! In this class, you’ll learn the basics of this versatile art by making amigurumi sushi that's not just cute, but functional, because we'll be adding a strong ceramic magnet! You can display your crochet sushi on your fridge or any other magnetic surface and it will hold your to-do list, your kid's art, or a favorite photo. You’ll leave class with a finished shrimp nigiri magnet and the skills (and the yarn!) to crochet an entire sushi platter. Along the way, you'll learn to crochet in the round using the magic ring method, how to change yarn colors for perfect stripes, and how to create shapes using increasing and decreasing stitches. In this small class, you’ll get plenty of individual attention from your instructor. If you’ve had a basic introduction to crochet (in my Crochet for Absolute Beginners class, for example), and are ready to take things to the next level, then you're ready for this Beyond Beginning crochet class! Price of class includes: * Three-hour amigurumi class with individual instruction * Patterns and tutorial handout packet * US Size G ( mm) crochet hook * Medium-weight acrylic yarn in all colors needed to make a complete sushi platter * Yarn needle * Two 1/2" round ceramic magnets with felt bases * Handmade work bag * Pencil * Complimentary wine and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Students may also BYOB to share.
