Beyond Beginning Knitting: TWO PART Hat Design Workshop
If you can cast on, knit, purl, and bind off, and are ready to take your knitting game to the next level, this TWO PART Beyond Beginner class will teach you an arsenal of new skills and give you the confidence to tackle knitting projects you never thought you could! Choose your design and choose your level of difficulty to make a cute, cozy cap that shows off your personality and style as well as your knitting skills. The class will include instruction on knitting in the round (an essential skill for creating socks, gloves, sleeves, hats, and more!), stranded color work (using two colors of yarn in the same row to create decorative motifs), shaping with increases and decreases, and the basic elements of pattern construction and garment design. Using one master pattern, you’ll customize and create a knitted hat that you’ll love to wear. What to bring: BRING YOUR OWN YARN. You will need 1 skein of medium-weight yarn as your main color, plus about 30 yards each of medium weight yarn in two complimentary or contrasting colors. I will have a limited quantity of yarn available for purchase in class, but I can't guarantee you'll like my selection of colors. Price of class includes: * Complimentary wine and non-alcoholic beverages * Pattern * Tutorial handout packet * 40” US Size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needle, OR 16” US Size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needle and a set of US Size 8 (5 mm) double-pointed knitting needles * Stitch markers * Yarn needle * Pencil * Handmade drawstring workbag This is a TWO PART CLASS. Each session is three hours; when you sign up, you are automatically signed up for both sessions. The second session is one week after the first.
I created You're Crafty! Craft and DIY classes because I love making things and I want you to love making things, too. I'm a lifelong crafter. My areas of specialty include knitting, crochet, sewing, cross stitch, and making costumes. I offer a variety of small, intimate classes for all experience and skill levels. You'll have fun and meet new friends while challenging yourself to learn something new. When I'm not making stuff or teaching others how to make stuff, I'm walking/running in the Berkeley hills (walking up the hills, running down them), snuggling with my cats, and performing with Bay Area Flash Mob (often as a zombie). See you in class! Let's craft together!
