Encaustics Workshop: Painting with Hot Wax
Encaustic Painting is the ancient method of painting with wax. Susan Brady teaches the workshop with an emphasis in collage and wax painting and will set the studio up with all the materials you will need to create a beautiful finished work of art. The small size class allows for lots of individual assistance and instruction. All materials included in the cost of the class (wax, pigments and a wood panel). All levels of skill and experience are welcome! Things we will work on in the encaustics class: Prepare a bare panel for receiving wax. Embed small objects. Incise wax and add color. Use oil sticks with wax. Transfer onto wax. Layer paper, drawings, fabric with wax. Class participants may bring small objects, drawings, photos on copy paper to use in class. Wear old clothes &/ or bring an apron. Wax is hard to remove from cloth.
