Our classes aim to equip participants with a basic knowledge of Indian spices and flavor profiles while encouraging them to discover their own touch and personalities as chefs. Throughout history and across the world home cooks have made Indian cuisine what it is today. They have not done so by following recipes, rather they were taught by their elders and over the years developed a touch in their fingers and a natural scale in the palm of their hand allowing them to create the flavors their families loved. At Spices & Curry we want to pass along these lessons to you so that you can become a part of the amazing tapestry of Indian cooking and begin adding to it in your own Kitchen. Its a 3 hour hands on cooking and learning with Chef Veena. You will get to learn, cook and enjoy your tasty creation and might even have some to take home too. This menu is a combination of both South Indian and North Indian cuisine. You will go back home with detailed recipes and excitement to cook and try them at your own home. Here is the menu you will be learning to cook for this class: Peas Pulav: Pilaf or Pulav is a dish made of aromatic basmati rice, fresh green peas and exotic spices. Paneer burji: A side dish made of scrambled paneer aka cottage cheese and medley of onion, tomato, bell pepper and flavorful spices. Madras Chicken Curry: A South Indian regional specialty dish which is simple and easy to make beginners chicken dish made with simple herbs and spices. Plain Whole wheat paratha: Whole wheat Indian flat-bread, a staple food of North India. Parathas can be made plain or with different vegetable fillings. Cucumber Raita: A yogurt sauce made with raw cucumber and infused with spices. This is used as a cooling condiment to balance out the spicy food. Mango Lassi: A delicious mango and yogurt smoothie blended with sweet spices to cool one down after a spicy meal.
