The Freedom to go Rock Climbing Anytime So you know how to belay, have been climbing a bit, and would like to learn how to set up your own top ropes so you can start venturing out on your own. This is the class for you! Our goal is to educate you about basic anchor construction for top rope climbing. We emphasize safety and hands on skill practice, getting you one step closer to setting up top ropes safely. In this 6-hour clinic, we will teach and practice the knots and anchor set-ups common for top roping at bay area climbing destinations. You will learn how to set up anchors off of bolts as well as natural features such as trees and boulders. This class often includes some climbing, but the main purpose is to give you the skills and resources to be able to climb on your own. In order to take this class, we strongly encourage you to have climbing experience (either in a gym or outside) and knowledge of basic safety skills (belaying and climber tie-in knots). Your own gear is not required, but bring it if you have it! PLEASE NOTE - All your gear (in addition to four hours of instruction) is included – climbing harness, climbing shoes, and all the necessary gear to rig a top rope (carabiners, ropes, webbing, cord, belay devices, etc). What to Pack: Flexible and comfortable clothing appropriate for the outdoors, stable footwear for a small amount of hiking. Lunch/Snack, water, and daypack to carry your personal items to the climbing area. Your own climbing gear (rental gear will be provided free-of-charge if you do not have your own). Exact packing list, directions, exact maps, and other details will all be provided during the registration process. CANCELATION POLICY This experience's cancelation policy is different from Verlocal's default policy due to me having to acquire a permit from the park in advance.
