Private Visit to John Lautner's Sheats-Goldstein House
Event date: Sunday, August 14, 12 noon On Sunday, August 14, at 12 noon, join me for a one-hour private tour of the Sheats-Goldstein House, the iconic John Lautner-designed residence which has been been featured in many movies and videos such as Charlie's Angels and The Big Lebowski. The home is a private residence and open only upon invitation. (The LACMA tours are undecided as of this date, and your donation will go directly to the John Lautner Foundation.) The owner, Jim Goldstein, has asked that a $25 donation (plus $3.00 credit card transaction charge) be collected for the John Lautner Foundation to help support their educational mission, in return to opening his house to us. Our tours always pay special tribute to Karol Lautner Peterson, Mr. Lautner's daughter, who tirelessly worked for the Lautner Foundation in educating the design community on her father's work. The address is 10104 Angelo View Drive. Please DO NOT park on the block in front of the house, as the neighbors get upset and we could lose our visiting privileges. You can park on Davies Drive, about a block away. After you arrive at the driveway of the house, walk down the path to the courtyard where I will meet you. Flat shoes only. No food or drinks inside the house. Cell phone cameras only. Any photography that has the appearance of a professional photo shoot is prohibited. If Mr. Goldstein is present, please do not ask for a photo with him. We are guests in his home and should be as unobtrusive as possible. Adult attendees only. Also, please note that we are visiting at Mr. Goldstein's invitation. Sometimes his plans change, and if that happens, please be understanding. I know that you might have set aside the day to visit, but I have no control over his schedule. Of course you will be refunded your money if the tour is cancelled. Please note that there is a 48-hour cancellation policy.
