Have you dreamed about getting a short story published in a top literary journal? Now’s your chance! In this short story workshop in San Francisco, successful writer R.O. Kwon will help you craft a brilliant, heartfelt tale about the human condition! Through fun, in-class writing exercises and engaging craft talks, she’ll help you brainstorm new ideas and write a draft of a your literary gem. She’ll show you how to hook readers with an engaging premise, share her method for crafting engaging characters and help you get to a killer ending in five pages or less. By end of the class, you’ll have a polished, publication-ready short story as well as a solid plan for where to submit it. Experienced and beginning writers welcome. Before you know it, you will be ready to join the ranks of the 27 students who have published short stories after taking this class. Instructor: R.O. Kwon R. O. Kwon’s first novel, HEROICS, is forthcoming from Riverhead. She is a 2016 NEA Literature Fellow. Her writing has appeared in NOON, VICE, TIN HOUSE, PLOUGHSHARES, THE BELIEVER, and elsewhere. Named one of NARRATIVE’S “30 Below 30” writers, she has received fellowships from Yaddo, Omi International, the Norman Mailer Writers Colony, the Steinbeck Fellows Program, and the Elizabeth George Foundation, as well as scholarships from the Bread Loaf and Sewanee Writers’ Conferences.
