All you need to learn the art of macrame is two hands and some rope. In this workshop, you will create a mid-size wall hanging that utilizes the most important knots in macrame- the half hitch, square knot, larks heads knots, overhand knots, and half square knots. Once you learn these skills, you will be able to create large and more intricate pieces on your own. Each student will leave class with a completed retro-chic wall hanging, ready to adorn their walls. Wall hangings measure at least 8" x 12".
All materials are included: Jennie will provide wooden dowels to knot off of, chunky natural cotton cord, jute, and a selection of wooden beads. Students will leave with an instruction packet and a quick guide to macrame, which includes directions for other knots and techniques not covered in class.
All materials, snacks, wine, beverages and 20% off of everything in our shop is included!

About the instructor:
Jennie Lennick is a San Francisco based artist, entrepreneur, and teacher. As a child in the Midwest, Jennie became enamored with traditional domestic craft, learning to sew and embroider. Her first job as a teenager was in a bead shop in Minneapolis where she taught adults and children macramé and other beading techniques. In 2010, She moved to the Bay Area to attend the San Francisco Art Institute, where she studied painting. Inspired by the natural beauty of Northern California, Jennie launched Jenny Lemons (jennylemons.com), a collection of modern block printed and hand painted women’s clothing and textiles. Jennie's work has been featured in publications like the San Francisco Chronicle, Brit + Co, and San Francisco Magazine. Her retail store in the Mission District of San Francisco is a community space where she facilitates DIY workshops, produces her products, and showcases the talents of other local artists.

We are passionate about teaching others to slow down and create things by hand. We love helping our students make items to beautify their homes and give as gifts while learning traditional craft techniques. All of our teachers are formally trained artists, and bring this perspective into their teaching- we encourage students to experiment, express themselves, and have fun!
