This cloth-covered case binding has a hand-carved block print of household tools on the cover and opens to reveal letterpress-printed endsheets. I stitch each book 100% by hand using linen thread and all acid-free materials for superior and lasting strength. Burdock & Bramble block-printed cover cloth and block-printed end sheets inside make each book a one-of-a-kind, pocket-sized work of art. The front cover of each book measures 3" x 5”. I carve the original designs by hand and print them on a hand-powered letterpress. Inside each book are 128 pages of Mohawk Superfine, excellent paper for drawing or writing. I have 3 different covers to choose from: white with light gray spine, dark gray with white spine, or light gray with dark gray spine. Each has the same block print of home economists at work inside the covers. Send me a private message specifying which one(s) you'd like to purchase.
Hi, I'm Heather, and I run Burdock & Bramble, a printing and hand-bookbinding business in Baltimore. I split my time between making hand-carved, letterpress-printed block prints and teaching public and private book arts classes in and around Baltimore city. I love making books, and even more, I love sharing how to make books. This is my simple approach to binding: everyone can learn to do it, and you can get great results with practice and a basic set of reasonably-priced hand tools. I've been binding for over ten years with students of all ages and from all places, and I'm looking forward to binding with you!
