52" x 98" (2.75yards) (132cm x 249cm) First I hand dyed the linen in turquoise procion mx dye using shibori folding and sewing techniques. This is 100% ethically sourced all natural medium weight linen. (200 GSM/6 OZ) Then I hand silkscreened 2/3 times, layering the different images; of metallic gold grooming chickens and hot pink tiny goliath beetles. Images/patterns are original designs of mine, that are hand drawn, original photographs, or digitally manipulated objects. Each piece I then set in high heat so the textile ink I print with is washable, and then hem and topstitched the edges for beautiful finished look. Use this piece with love, as a beach or picnic blanket, an attractive throw in your living or bedroom, or even as a wrap/coverup/sarong. It is completely unique. No two pieces are alike. You will have a true one of kind piece that only gets better with time and wear. Discounts for Multiple Fabric Panels Purchased. Wholesale available.
Karin has been silkscreening since 1999, sewing since middle school. She began teaching in Chicago 2002 after she graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Moving back to New York she settled in Bushwick, Brooklyn 2007 where she continued to work on her line "Better Than Jam," of her own hand printed textiles and self sewn clothing and accessories. In 2010 she made the plunge and opened her first boutique location at 1087 Flushing Ave. 2015, she and the shop made a huge move to 20 Grattan St, to an old warehouse space. In this space the simple boutique has been transformer into a store, communal studio space, and learning center. In the retail space one can purchase locally handmade gifts and fashions, sewing craft and art supplies, take classes and workshops of the craft and small business variety, as well as rent studio space and time hourly, daily, or monthly.
