17” long, 3” wide, 3.5” deep Signed on bottom A lightweight, translucent, Spirit Boat made from pieces of a re-cylced plastic water bottle, serving as the shell that is covered in coffee stained tracing paper secured with gel medium. A twig lives between the high pointed ends that carries memories of time into space in the form of knots of split apart twine. The edges are laced with narrow cords. Remembrance invites the honoring of dreams.
I am a teaching artist with a vigorous studio practice in sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, printmaking and installation. I am also a museum educator and business owner living and working in a historic artist community in the San Francisco Mission District. I teach and lead workshops employing innovative techniques of drawing and sculpture. It is inspirational to see others use art to supercharge their imagination and express their creative energy. My Spirit Boat Making Workshops are a culmination of many years of working with people around art making tables at museums and other public venues. Hundreds of people have made boats with me and have experienced a shift in perception for the positive. I believe that if people can see more, they can do more to help themselves in a natural way. Art gives us all this chance to open to our potential.
