I'm loving every minute of this! I'm not really sure how I came about wanting to learn how to paint on silk, but I do remember having a discussion with my son who is opening an eCommerce store on his website. He had plenty of merchandise for men, but he needed ideas for something to appeal to the women who visit his site. I decided to come up with something to help him out. Somehow I came up with the idea to paint on silk. Maybe it was while I was in the shower...who knows! Anyway, I learned how to make the stretchers from PVC pipe and I found a site to buy the silk scarves and paints and then I was off and painting! I set up shop in my living room, which is tiny. I paint on a plastic folding table in the middle of the room. My gigantic steamer sits in the corner of the living room and sometimes sounds like a train's moving right through the room! My family seems to be ok with this for now! I painted several scarves and brought them to work to show my coworkers. They had seen pictures but wanted to see them in person. I sold 12 out of 16! I was so excited. My son's site took longer to set up than I expected and the holidays were arriving soon so I went ahead and set up ways to sell my artwork on my own in the meantime. I continue to love what I'm doing and especially love watching the vibrant colors come to life on the different silk types. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Kathy Defina
