Pottery Crafting Class in Seattle. This class will provide you with in depth knowledge and hands on experience throwing on the pottery wheel. You will learn basic skills including wedging clay, centering, raising, and shaping basic forms. Classes max out at 2 people, so they are essentially private lessons. I believe that one-on-one instruction is a must when learning to throw. I have developed a teaching method for beginner potters which allows people to grasp the fundamental necessities of throwing on the wheel. After 90 minutes, my students are familiarized with the wheel, and are able to sit down and go through the motions of throwing. More importantly, they understand why they are performing certain movements. If you make something you like, I will fire it for you, so you can use your very own handmade pot. All you need to bring is a pair of clothes that you don’t mind getting a little muddy, your hands (clipped nails), and a smile. Class runs around 90 minutes. After being at the wheel with me for an hour and a half, I’m confident you will be able to sit down on your own, and understand the process of throwing.
