Explore the Architectural Gems of Midtown Manhattan
This three hour walking tour covers a section of Midtown Manhattan that contains over a dozen landmark buildings with a selection of historic and anti historic architectural styles. This part of Midtown is has more architectural diversity than any other part of Manhattan. The tour of Manhattan's past and the present includes New York City and national landmarks designed by world famous architects, and focuses on both post modern and modern skyscrapers along with Art Deco gems and Historically styled club houses, mansions, and skyscrapers. The tour also features a landmark church with a Byzantine dome, a Moorish and Islamic styled synagogue and beautiful mosaics . Also Included are: some of the area's history, interesting pictures and stories that help join us with the area's past. There are over 17 stops on the walking tour including 12 New York City landmarks and 5 national landmarks. The tour is hosted by Alfred Pommer a licensed New York City guide with over 26 years experience creating and giving 27 Manhattan walking tours and he is the author of 4 Manhattan guide books published by the History Press
Alfred Pommer is an author, a college graduate and a native of New York City. He worked for the New York City Parks Department for 25 years (15 years as a supervisor). Fascinated by the city’s history and architecture, he decided to share his passion with others and started to organize walking tours in the early 1990s. As a true passionate of New York City, Alfred collects photographs and anecdotes of the spots he enjoys the most.
