Forest Hills, Queens Walking Tour
New York City has few more beautiful neighborhoods than Queens’ own Forest Hills Gardens. Planned on the model of the garden communities of England, on most days it feels like a place out of time. It is also a neighborhood steeped in history. Its namesake park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who created Central Park, among other historical landscapes. Its famed West Side Tennis Club was once home to the US Open and housed concerts from stars like The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and The Who. Forest Hills is the birthplace of a lot of talent– Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel, the Ramones, Billy Eichner, Carroll O’Connor, the fictional Spider-Man, & more. We will explore the history of this neighborhood, and its home borough, as we walk through this gorgeous neighborhood. This walking tour is for those who love unique residential architecture and nature hidden in a large urban area. This will be a relaxing stroll through tree-lined streets.
Jeremy Wilcox is a licensed tour guide through the NYC Dept of Consumer Affairs, and a lifelong New Yorker. He specializes in off-the-beaten-path walking tours for those looking for the oft-missed parts of New York City. Whether you've only been here once, or a dozen times, there are countless of amazing sites and neighbors to explore for the first time. Even most New Yorkers do not get around to seeing them all. My goal is to help you discover these hidden treasures, from the perspective of an enthusiastic veteran.
