About Your Host

Welcome to Harlem is a visitor center and boutique-tour company focusing on the rich history and cultural diversity of Harlem. We have been in business for over ten years, and a NYC and NY State certified minority and women-owned business. We are a full-service tour company that responds to the pulse of Harlem and its unique enclaves. We open your eyes and ears to the rich history and cultural diversity of Harlem through music, dance, theatre, shopping and dining. We also collaborate with local businesses and organizations to bring special events to you and the Harlem community. We even provide custom tours, educational tours, music programs, and workshops… no group is too big or small. If you take away one thing about Welcome to Harlem, it should be that we LOVE Harlem and are VERY PROUD of our neighborhood. There is so much to learn about Harlem, and we are here to help you!

What we'll do

Are you ready to enjoy some of the best jazz being performed in New York City? If so, make you way to Harlem any Tuesday afternoon or Friday evening and set back. Each year thousands of visitors and tourists flock to Harlem club's seeking to experience and hear the soulful music that Harlem has come to be known for. No more waiting for the lights to go down or paying a hefty price to enjoy the soulful immortal sounds and rhythms of Duke Ellington, Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis (to name just a few). Their voices and music live on throughout the city as performers pay tribute to these greats every day. Every Tuesday afternoon and Friday evening Harlem play's host to some of today's most talented jazz musicians and history's greatest jazz music in a musical tribute of epic proportions. Concertgoers will spend each Tuesday afternoon or Friday evening surrounded by the cool vibrations of jazz as they are soothed and invigorated by seemingly magical strings and horns. This is an event for all of the senses, and it is meant to be both mentally and spiritually up lifting. The Harlem Jazz Series is artistically directed by Craig Harris, a trombonist, composer and longtime Harlem resident. Harris has been a major figure in the Harlem jazz scene since 1976.
