Arbalest Press was founded in 2015 by a group of artists and printers based in the Boston area. After years of printing together at the Bow & Arrow Press in Cambridge, MA, we decided to open a first-of-its-kind printing arts collaborative in Boston, dedicated to teaching letterpress printing and book arts while also producing an array of letterpress works of our own, from wedding cards to stationery and fine press prints.
Just as we honor letterpress in a digital age, the name Arbalest—which refers to the technology that succeeded the Bow & Arrow—pays homage to our collective roots.
Our Facilities:
Arbalest Press occupies a second-floor space at the Stove Factory in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston. With our own dedicated parking lot and easy accessibility from all points, we offer year-round workshops of all kinds. Our studio includes an array of type and presses, including two Vandercook Proofing Presses.
Swing by Arbalest Press this Sunday, June 19th and see how a group of us use traditional and modern printing techniques to create all sorts of crazy, beautiful printed works, from stationery to posters and beyond!
