Chew on an energy bar in seconds, or savor a gourmet meal over the course of hours. This is not to say that every meal has to be dazzling and expensive; rather, they should be adventurous.

Yes, pizza, the simplest and most accessible of all American foods, is absolutely amazing, but I want to be just as familiar with kimchi as I am with pizza! And that is why my friend and I started a food blog— to capture out foodventures! This post will take you through some of the best Brooklyn eats I have encountered in 2016. Be sure to follow @nycdopefoods on Instagram for more! Enjoy!

  1. Emmy Squared:
From Pizzalovesemily.com/emmy-squared

As you know, I love pizza. That being said I have tried many different places but one of my favorites is Emmy Squared. Located in Williamsburg, this cool eatery serves great pizza! The Detroit style pizza has crunchy, cheesy crust that tastes magical. I recommend the Original and Vodka pies. Emmy squared’s menu also features more appetizers and sandwiches than you average pizza place. I drive over an hour for this pizza and never regret it!

  1. Baya Bowls:
From Facebook.com/BayaBowlsNY

This place opened just in time for 2017, but I still feel the need to put it on my 2016 favorites. Baya Bowls serves delicious acai, pitaya, kale and coco bowls. They also have juices and smoothies. Between the well-made frozen blends and fresh toppings, the combinations made at Baya Bowls are absolutely delicious.

  1. Tanoreen:
From Tanoreen.com

Tanoreen allows chef Rawia to show off her delicious Middle Eastern home
cooking. Tanoreen can get pretty busy but is definitely worth the wait. My favorite dishes here are the brussel sprouts and cauliflower steak. Tanoreen also has interesting drink options; my favorite is the rosewater lemonade. Tanoreen is worth any trouble you have to go through to get there. The friendly staff and great eats ake it one of my favorites.

  1. Sushi MiKasa by Kevin:
From Sushimikasa.com

If you like sushi, Sushi MiKasa is a must try. Although small, the sushi and appetizers are never anything less than perfect. Chef Kevin is actually there preparing your order and seems to know his regular customers. He greets everyone with a smile and gratitude. I recommend trying the truffle edamame and miso cod!

  1. Roberta’s:

    From Robertaspizza.com

Since I began this post with pizza, it’s only fair to end it with pizza. I’m sure you heard of Roberta’s, a hipster pizza joint in Bushwick. Not only are the people here super cool, the food is always delicious. You are likely to experience a wait but can go next door to their tiki bar if you’re in a rush. If not, guests are welcome to stay by the bar until their table is ready. This has always been one of my favorites and will be even after 2016. The stracciatella with grilled bread is absolutely addicting. And the “Nun on the Run” pie is a must.
